Scarlett Kulp (in pink) plays taps while members of the 166th Regiment, PAARNG from Fort Indiantown Gap and guests look on. Scarlett graduated from Boyertown Area High School in 2007 where she played trumpet in the high school band. She currently attends Kutztown University. Scarlett lived next to Travis Zimmerman (bottom left photo), since she was 2 years old. A few days after Travis' death she was inspired to try raise enough money to add a Military Bear to the Boyertown Bear Fever Collection. Within a few weeks, she had raised enough money to purchase the bear. There was such an over whelming response to Scarlett's efforts that a committee was formed to organize a "Hometown Heroes" Parade and Ceremony which was held on September 17,2006. In May 2007 Scarlett was present with the Berks County Red Cross Community Service Award. |
